In Taiwan, garbage collection occurs in the weekdays during the evening hours. What makes garbage collection different in Taiwan than in most countries is that there are no public garbage cans for you to put your trash into for collection. No one comes to your building to pick up your trash but rather the you have to take your trash to the designated garbage collection zone which may be right outside your building or a few blocks down. Since the garbage truck only comes during the evenings, this may be cumbersome if you work during this time but I usually ask a friendly neighbor to take it out for me.
Its here! So all you basically do is throw your garbage bags into the back of this truck.

This is the recyclables and food waste truck.

Street before the garbage trucks arrive. You will usually see a flood of parked taxis in my neighborhood at night because of all the late night restaurants around.
The classical tunes of "A Maiden's Prayer" by Tekla Bądarzewska-Baranowska and "Für Elise" by Beethoven can be heard when the garbage truck is nearby. This is the signal to all residents that the garbage truck has arrived. So once the truck comes you will see everyone emerge from their apartment buildings with bag fulls of trash and recyclables. This is probably the only times I see my neighbors and chat with them.

In order to have your trash collected you need to buy special blue bags with the designated sticker. These bags can be purchased at your local 7-11. They came in three sizes and cost around $200NT for couple of bags. Recyclables can be carried in any type of bag.
Happy Collection Day!
