Day markets are very popular in Taiwan and can be found in almost every neighborhoods. Its a great place to pick up fresh produce, meats and a variety of other goods.
This is my local day market, located just two blocks from my house. They usually open everyday from early morning to mid afternoon.
Fresh fruits! The green one in the front is called "Ba-La" which is sort of like guava but the meat is white and firm.
Its pretty crowded all day.
Fresh poultry from the local butcher.
Fish balls which is made up of pureed meat formed into a spherical form.
Fresh seafood too.
And fresh flowers at the very end. Many day markets also sell an assortment of other products such as clothing, jewelry and houseware.
Next time think twice before you decide where to buy your produce. Why go to a supermarket when you can get it fresh, directly from the farmers for less.
