A Day in Taipei: Part 1

E-mail Print PDF

This is my typical daily commute to and from work.  I basically walk 15 minutes to Zhongshan Junior High School MRT station, transfer at Zhongxiao Fuxing MRT station and arrive at Taipei City Hall where I continue my trek for another 15 minutes.  Total commute time is about 45 minutes one way and I do this twice a day.

I cut out most of the boring stuff and this is the end result.

6:30am...I just woke up and the sun is barely rising.

7:00am and I am about to start my journey to work.

Elevator shot of me not being a happy camper because of lack of sleep caused by cats in heat outside my window all night long.

A view of my neighborhood.

Some folks doing Tai Chi at a local park.

You will see many of these high rise apartment complexes all over Taipei.  Can you count the number of air conditioners in this picture?

A common sight in Taiwan, rows and rows of scooters.

Early morning traffic.

These mom and pop breakfast shops open from morning to afternoonish  They will almost always sell half cut club sandwiches seen in the picture.

I finally made it, now I can finally sit and relax on the subway train.

This is the first thing you see taking the escalator up...some day...

 EasyCard...the name says it all.

Summer just ended so there is a flood of students in the morning which means I don't get to sit and relax anymore.

Transferring to the Bannan line on the longest escalator I have been on.

An advertisement for the Van Gogh Art Exhibition in December.  I think I will check it out.

Getting ready to board a crowded train.  Excited about the animated Astro Boy movie.

No more seats here either.

Exiting at Taipei City Hall.

I walk through the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi shopping center every day.  This shopping mall consist of two whole blocks and three large buildings.  Taipei 101 can be seen in the background.

This crossing light takes forever so I usually bum rush it whenever I see an open opportunity.  Be warned though, if caught jaywalking, it results in a $300NT ($9USD) fine.

This is the center of the shopping center where they normally host events on the weekends.  I think they were setting up for a fashion show.

 "And I...."

Another mall.

7:50am I finally arrive at my work place.

...

...

8 hours later

On my trek back home and I spot PSP go booth.

Looks awesome.

LAVA is a pretty cool night club.  This place is crowded Wednesday nights which is Ladies Night everywhere in Taipei.

This is the Neo19 building.

Part of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi shopping center.

Its usually more crowded at this time.

During the weekends, this place is packed with attractions and booths.

Many places to eat.

This is the new mall that just opened called Bellavita. So far it contains some baller stores that I have never hard of.

Corporate office, also where I grabbed my lunch.

5:00pm and I'm Finally home! Can you tell the difference between this picture and the earlier elevator shot?

So that ends Part 1 of "A Day in Taipei" and I hope you enjoyed it.  Any feedback would be great :D.

You look like death!!! T_T You sure you don't need anything else that you can't
get there?

Man, I forgot that all Taipei neighborhoods look exactly the same.
Yours looks like a street that's just a couple blocks from where I'll be living,
but it's probably not, haha!

I only recognize Shinkong and kind of Neo19... Oh
actually I think I saw LoTR 3 at that movie theater. Though that street with
Mitsubishi Motors seems familiar too. I dunno. I can't wait to go eat breakfast
at those roadside mom and pop shops! Fan tuan! Dan bing! Fan tuan jia dan bing!
Yummmmm!

(Oh and my aunt might kidnap me to Taichung for my birthday... Since
my parents only realized today that I'd be turning 22 there! Lamers.)
